Time to work hard

It´s September already and so many things to do.17th October is arriving very soon and Portugal will be performing the Poverty Requiem.
I would like to thank all the Oxfam team. Everything was taken is such a detail, that there´s no excuse not do perform back home.
To all my NEW conductors friends around the world I wish all the success for this fantastic event.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing else but the truth.

It´s not gonna be very popular but here it goes.
As a teacher when a student or singer comes to me and says that he went to a place and it was so boring…I always answered “Even if you don´t learn anything new, you´ll learn what not to do!” And this was the case in The Hague. It was a boring rehearsal with not a good teaching method. This happens all around the world, therefore also in Portugal. Instead of going from the general to the detail, they go the other way round. What happens? Singers get bored, the singing goes flat, and the music is killed.
I felt sorry for the composer. To see such a lovely piece being taught like that…it was getting in my nerves. Well, better rehearsals will come, because worse is impossible!

It´s late in the evening

...and I can´t sleep for my brain do not want to rest. It´s melodies, words, tacatacatacatacaTAC, dancing, managing so many things, that really 24h a day seems very short time. I´m also inspired bythe words of my felows conductors in their blogues and by the eficient "machine" that every day puts on-line a daily video so the world can be with us and for the Poverty Requiem. It´s our mission to spread the word...with music!

TacaTacaTacaTacaTacaTaca TAC!

TacaTacaTacaTacaTacaTaca TAC! Rythym,Rythym, Rythym! All day with diferent instruments learning and playing patters for the 5 movements. A very intensive day with many things to think about and a lot of layers to work The atmosphere is great and we are all learning with each others.
At the end of the day we had the Oxfam Novib’s general director Sylvia Borren, who wrote the lyrics and explain how everything started, and the stories behind the text. It was very inspiring!
Hopefully will take this inspiration back home and inspire others.

Day 1 in Amsterdam

Hello dear friends. In this blog i´ll try to write as much as possible to describe our experience. You are free to add coments. Please do!

What can I say? It´s a privilege to be here!I´m very happy to participate in such an event!Right from the first time I heard about th Poverty requiem I wanted to be in it.And now I am.
Amsterdam: what a fantastic city, with so many colours, live, bikes and beautiful people.
Peter Maissan: what a person, with so much energy and giving that it´s impossible not to be energized.
That´s how I am!That I´m full of energy and I need to energize who´s around me. PEOPLE: WAKE UP FOR THIS AMAZING PROJECT!!So many things happening in my head that´s hard to sleep.17th october looks it´s so far still! But it will come and PORTUGAL (with you all!) will perform the Poverty Requiem.
